  13. Your available research slots are shown on the right side. You can have 2 research projects in progress at the same time. Here you can also cancel or spend gold to speed-up the research in progress.
  14. Information about your current Doctrine is displayed in the top right corner. Doctrines affect the day of availability of certain researches. Check out the Doctrines page to learn more.

Upgrading units

Once you have researched at least the second level of a unit, all newly produced units of that type will spawn with this higher level. Your existing units on the map will retain their previous level, unless you upgrade them manually. Upgrading a unit will always upgrade it to the highest level available. You cannot choose the level you want to upgrade the unit to.

You can upgrade your units nearly anywhere on the map. The only restrictions are that land units cannot be upgraded while on sea, aircrafts cannot be upgraded while in the air, and all units in general cannot be upgraded while performing another action such as fighting.

Upgrading is useful to ensure the highest possible combat effectiveness of your troops, but costs resources and takes time. Choose the moment you upgrade your units carefully, as they cannot move during the process, and the process cannot be canceled.


The process is identical on mobile and desktop. Select an army on the map so that the army interface appears at the bottom of the screen:

  1. When a unit inside the army can be upgraded to a higher level it is indicated by the green arrow in the corner of the unit icon.
  2. Clicking on the green upgrade button in the command row prompts a confirmatory popup which provides further information as well as the option to upgrade the unit or cancel the upgrade.

The total resource costs and upgrade time are determined by the target level to which the units will be upgraded. Upgrading costs 50% of the production cost and takes 50% of the production time of the target level.

While upgrade costs are summed up when trying to upgrade different units simultaneously, all upgraded units will share the upgrade time of the unit that takes the longest to upgrade.

Supply Drops & Blueprints

Every 2-3 days a supply drop can appear in your game round. They contain valuable resources or blueprints for the elite unit levels. Supply drops spawn in neutral or enemy provinces that have to be conquered within 36 hours to capture them.

Active supply drops are marked on the map with a supply drop icon:


There is also a supply drop timer in the corner of the screen, showing the remaining time in which the supplies have to be collected:

Spawning requirements:

  • The game round is ranked.
  • Map size of 22 players or bigger.
  • Less than 4 supply drops currently active in your other played game rounds.
  • The day of game is 2 or higher.
  • 0-18h hours passed since the last supply drop was collected or vanished.

Spawning:

  • Spawns in neutral or enemy provinces. Does not spawn in provinces of nations with which you shared map with.
  • It is possible that an allied player conquers the province after the supply drop spawned, in which case the supply drop remains in that province for the duration of the timer.

Collecting:

  • Conquering the province collects the supplies.
  • Receiving the province from an ally via province trade does not count.

Rewards:

  • 40% chance to contain 3 random resources. The amount per resource depends on the strength of the nation in which the drop appeared. The stronger the nation, the higher the resource rewards.
  • 60% chance to contain a random blueprint of a unit with a yet to be unlocked elite level. Collect all blueprints of a unit in order to permanently unlock its elite level. This allows you to research the highest level of this unit in any game round going forward.

Blueprints can also be bought with gold inside the player profile or inside the research tree:

Earned or purchased blueprints will remain in your possession forever. Once you collected all blueprints of a unit you will also forever be able to research its elite level in your game rounds.
